1. What information will One World Women collect about me?
Personal information is collected directly from you when you interact with One World Women, for example by making a donation or subscribing to our e-newsletter. Information may be collected online, on paper, over the telephone, or in person, for example at an event where you might provide your email address to receive our regular email bulletins.
The information we collect will typically include your name, postal and email addresses, your phone number, and your bank details if you are supporting us financially. Very occasionally we may need to collect information that the Data Protection Act considers to be ‘sensitive’. In such instances we would be very clear with you that we wished to collect such information, our reason for collecting such information, and we would only do so with your specific consent and permission.
We may also receive information about you from third parties for a specific purpose– but only if you’ve given them permission to share your information.
2. How will One World Women use the information you collect about me?
We will use the information we collect about you to process your requests and to keep in touch with you about One World Women’s work. Examples include:
- to process donations
- to send fundraising appeals
- to record any contact we have with you to help us provide you with the most appropriate communications
- to check that your communications preferences are up to date
- to invite you to participate in campaigns or attend events
- to notify you of the changes to our policies
- to ensure that content from our site is presented in the most effective manner for you and your computer
3. Will I be contacted for marketing purposes?
One World Women will contact you for marketing purposes when you have provided us with freely given consent to do so. You may provide that consent in various ways including online, over the telephone or through paper forms. Please see section 6 below on how to change your communication preferences, including opting out of future marketing communications.
4. Will One World Women share my personal information with anyone else?
We will only use your information within One World Women for the purposes for which it was obtained. One World Women will not, under any circumstances, share or sell your personal data with any third party for marketing purposes and you will not receive offers from other companies or organisations as a result of giving your details to us.
We may need to share your data with third-party companies who provide services to One World Women including delivering post, sending emails, processing credit card payments. We will only provide these companies with the specific information they need to deliver the specific service and ensure that your data is treated with respect and integrity.
5. How long will One World Women keep my personal information?
We will hold your personal information on our systems for as long as is necessary for the relevant activity, for example we will keep a record of donations for at least seven years.
If you request that we stop sending you marketing materials we will keep a record of your contact details and appropriate information to enable us to comply with your request not to be contacted by us.
Legacy income is vital to the running of the social enterprise. We may keep data you provide to us indefinitely, to carry out legacy administration and communicate effectively with the families of people leaving us legacies. This also enables us to identify and analyse the source of legacy income we receive.
6. What is One World Women's legal basis for processing your information?
Although in many cases we will seek consent to process your personal data, in some instances we may process your information without consent when we are legally allowed to do so. This will only be where it is in our legitimate interests to do so and where we are confident that such processing is not likely to prejudice your legitimate interests or rights and freedoms.
Where we are processing your personal data on the basis of consent that you have given us, you are entitled to withdraw that consent at any time such that we can no longer rely on it as a basis for continuing to process your personal information.
Occasionally, for marketing purposes, we may obtain email lists of potential customers from external companies. We will only deal with reputable companies that take privacy and data protection as seriously as we do, and we will always let you choose not to receive further marketing material from us.
